FAQs

Hot Tub Questions:

Hot tub prices can be very confusing. When evaluating hot tub cost, one should consider what is included in the price. Details such as freight, backyard delivery, cover, cover lift assist mechanism, steps, starter kit, ozone, UV, and other things are typically not included when you see a price online. These items can change the hot tub price significantly. By the time you factor all of these extras, the price of a quality hot tub, which starts at around $6k (in 2025), can go up to $30k or more. Size, number of pumps, quality of jets, and general build quality tend to have the largest effect on price.
Yes, we are saltwater hot tub experts. Our BluFusion salt system can easily be added to any hot tub that we sell, such as top rated hot tubs from Bullfrog Spas® and Wellis Spa®.
There is no such thing as a chemical free hot tub, however, there are ways to reduce the amount of chemicals to a level to be more gentle on skin and eyes. As a trusted hot tub dealer, Colorado Custom Spas is also your hot tub chemistry expert. Our management team has a combined 100 years of experience. We offer some of the best hot tubs on the market, from saltwater hot tubs to mineral spas, ozone spas, and AOP spas. We will make both your soak time and your spa upkeep smooth and irritation-free.
Hot tub energy consumption is affected by a variety of factors, including cost per kWh of electricity, weather, exposure to sun and wind, filtration cycle settings, temperature setting, quality of cover, and, most importantly, the way in which a hot tub is insulated. The best hot tubs for heat retention use full-foam sprayed in the cavity between the shell and the cabinet. Perimeter insulation can get close if done properly, but full-foam is typically the most efficient. Generally speaking, along the front range, an efficient hot tub will use between 9 and 18 kWh/day. Your price paid per kWh will determine operating cost. And choosing top rated hot tubs, such as those from Bullfrog Spas and Wellis Spa, helps to keep operating costs in check.
All hot tubs require a flat and level surface that uniformly supports the hot tub across the entire base. In addition to concrete, other suitable foundations include wood decking, pavers, and even gravel. A concrete pad should be at least 4” thick and reinforced. If you are unsure about your surface, let us know. As an experienced hot tub dealer, we can guide you through the process. Even if your concrete isn’t level, we can help provide solutions that won’t break the bank.
Most hot tubs require a 220V power supply at 50 amps. Some spas may require 60. Additionally, there are 110V plug and play hot tub models available. It’s important to note that, while plug and play hot tubs have their own set of perks, most 110V spas do not allow for the heater and the high-speed jets to operate simultaneously.
Yes, as we offer a wide range of top-rated hot tubs, most of our spas have the option to upgrade to wireless control.
We don’t recommend moving a hard-wired hot tub. It’s heavy, awkward, tied into a dedicated electrical circuit, and easy to damage if it’s tipped, dragged, or lifted the wrong way. You’ll also risk injury and warranty headaches. If relocating is inevitable, bring in professional spa movers and a licensed electrician to disconnect/reconnect power, then set the tub on a truly level, load-bearing base. If you expect to move more than once, consider a plug and play hot tub instead. These 110V models are lighter, don’t need hard wiring, and plug into a standard outlet, so they’re far better for renters, frequent movers, or anyone still settling into a space. You’ll trade a bit of jet power for flexibility, but you’ll gain convenience and far less hassle on moving day.
Most hot tubs have a drain valve that can be attached to a garden hose for draining. We recommend using a submersible pump because it’s faster and easier.
Most modern hot tubs allow set points from about 80°F to 104°F, with 104°F as the standard factory-limited maximum. For everyday soaking, many adults prefer 100–102°F; some drop to 98–100°F for longer sessions or warmer weather. In colder climates, people often keep the hot tub slightly higher to offset heat loss when the cover is off. For kids (and anyone sensitive to heat), keep hot tub temperature lower, typically 98–100°F, and shorten soak times.

Swim Spa Questions:

Absolutely! At Colorado Custom Spas, we have the largest selection of swim spas in Denver.
Much like with hot tubs, swim spa prices depend on what’s actually included beyond the base model. The overall swim spa cost varies based on its size, features, and performance. Larger models with multiple swim zones, higher flow rates, and premium hydrotherapy seats typically cost more. The number of pumps, jet design, insulation quality, and even cabinet materials all play a part in determining value. In short, a swim spa is both a fitness system and a place for relaxation, and its price reflects that dual purpose. The best approach is to think in terms of long-term enjoyment, energy efficiency, and reliability. As your experienced local swim spa dealer, we can help you compare models and understand what’s included so you can choose a system that fits your space, goals, and budget.
Our swim spas are designed to offer year-round swimming. They are well insulated to maintain swim spa temperature, keeping the heat in and your energy bill low.
Most leading swim spas are roughly 4–5’ tall (exterior height). In broader terms, many target about 4’9″ for a balance of swimability and comfort. Their overall footprint typically lands around 12–20’ long and about 7.5–8’ wide. Keep in mind, manufacturers publish cabinet height; actual water depth sits a bit below the rim. If you’re comparing models, confirm exterior dimensions, access clearances, and the waterline depth for an apples-to-apples view.
