Is Hot Tub Maintenance Hard?

Is Hot Tub Maintenance Hard?

Have you always wanted a hot tub, but haven’t gotten one simply because you are worried about maintenance? If you are asking yourself, “Is hot tub maintenance hard?” rest easy. Hot tub maintenance is not difficult. In fact, easy hot tub maintenance is just a matter of using your hot tub regularly and sticking to a simple cleaning schedule. And with Colorado Custom Spas on your side, you’ll have all the information you need to take care of your beautiful new hot tub.

Is Hot Tub Maintenance Hard? The Easy Basics

The number one rule of easy hot tub maintenance is to keep the water moving. The more you use your tub, the cleaner it will stay.

Moving water keeps the water circulating through the spa’s filtration system. This allows the filters to pick up any contaminants. Enjoying your hot tub for 15-20 minutes a day is a great way to keep the water clean and circulating.

Basic cleaning is also really easy.

To clean your hot tub, all you need is a sponge and plain white vinegar. Plain white vinegar is an all-purpose cleaner and can be used to gently and effectively remove any build up from the water line, seats, and jets.

To clean your filters, simply rinse them with your garden hose. For a deeper clean, they can be sprayed with a filter cleaner or soaked in a chemical cleaner. Then, give them a rinse before placing them back in your hot tub.

Keep a hot tub cover on your spa to keep out debris and stray animals. At Colorado Custom Spas, we want to make things easy and affordable. That’s why we include a cover with every hot tub purchase

Is Hot Tub Maintenance Hard? Easy Water Balance

Keep the spa’s pH in the neutral range.

Don’t be afraid of keeping your spa’s water chemistry balanced. It’s easy! At Colorado Custom Spas, we carry all the chemicals you need to have on hand.

You need to balance the hot tub water to neutral pH. This is between 7.4 and 7.6. Below 7.4 the water becomes too acidic and can irritate your skin and eyes. Above 7.6 means the water is too basic and can become cloudy.

For appropriate hot tub maintenance, we recommend testing your spa’s water at least once a week with either test strips or a liquid test kit.
